Oh my gosh y’all!!!!! I was selected from the crowd on the Plaza for a segment on the Hoda & Jenna Hour of The Today Show! I was picked to be a part of a trivia show!! It was so much fun! Thursday Kaden and I woke up early and wanted Walker and Dan to sleep in so we slipped out onto the crowded streets and made our way to the filming of The Today Show. We were in a huge crowd and saw the producers from the plaza, which we had seen the day before! Gave a quick wave, took a selfie, and put our names in the hat to be chosen for a game! 1 hour later, a NYC number came across my phone and next thing I knew I had a “call time to come back for filming in the studio!” HOW MUCH FUN!
We arrived at our specific time and were lead into the green room. The boys had a mid morning snack while I got a make up and hair make over. This was just a touch up, as they want all the guests chosen off the Plaza to look as if they’re just walking inside from the crowd! What was awesome is they didn’t want everyone to look fake, just touched up so we looked good on camera!
It was so surreal to see Studio 1A and Jenna & Willie in person! (yes, we’re on first name only terms) …. Sherri Shepherd who used to be on The View was there who is the Hostess of the game show “Best Ever Trivia Show” on Game Show Network! She was super sweet as were all of the other stars! It was very high energy and seemed as they were excited to meet new friends each day during these segments. Our part was filmed on Thursday to air on Friday so they would have that 4th hour free Friday! That made it even better because now we get to watch it together on Friday!
The Game show was a trivia show. Willie & I were a team and Todd and Jenna were a team! Since this is being published after the airing of the show I can let you know I got 2nd place! I won a $100 gift card & 4 board games which was so exciting because we love playing board games! The other contestant who won, won $5000~ can you believe that??!?!?! That would have been nice, but my little men were so excited about the games and didn’t realize what would have been cool about the $5000…..
Jenna Bush and Willie Geist were really as sweet and nice as they seem on TV. It’s neat to see how they are when the cameras aren’t rolling -just as friendly and smiling as they are on the show. I am sure we could all think about that theme sometimes, how do we act “off camera”? Are we the same when people are watching as we are behind closed doors? “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8) and we are called to be the same too! Not that we can always be the same- we will have good days and bad days- but we are called to treat others as we would want to be treated. To be the same Christian when others are looking and when we are alone.
This experience of being on The Today Show was a lot of fun! I was smiling from ear to ear and loved meeting the production team as well as the stars of the show! I hope you tuned in to watch the show! If you are ever in NYC and on The Plaza- go experience the filming and see if you too could be chosen to be on the show! Get there are 7:00, make a poster and smile and wave so your friends will hopefully see you on TV, the hosts come outside at 8:30am typically so you can see them, if anyone asks you to sign up to be on the show say YES!!
